After finishing up my second play through of Silent Hill f, I was a little lost on what to play next. Then, I remembered that I had Ghost of Yotei just sitting on my hard drive having only about an hour of gameplay on it thus far. I really did mean to get around to it, but it was a packed end of the year and it kind of fell to the wayside. Unfortunately, I think if I had stuck with it, Ghost of Yotei would have been very high on my game of the year list for last year.

I feel like very few people were talking about this game last year and that is a crime. It is similar to Ghost of Tsushima, sure, but the structure of Yotei makes it feel different enough that it does a good job of separating itself as well. All of the activities in the game are satisfying and you can knock a few off your list with every short play session. I have been very surprised by the depth of taking out even one member of the Yotei Six, the primary antagonists of this game, and it reminded me of the feeling of getting through one area of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and then realizing you’ve barely chipped away at the full game.

This is the perfect kind of game for my lifestyle, since I very rarely have time to sit down for a long play session. The PlayStation Portal is singularly responsible for me being able to play this game as well. I have to do most of my gaming on handhelds nowadays and the PS Portal is perfect for that. I’m looking forward to finishing up this game, hopefully before Resident Evil Requiem comes out, because that will then be my primary focus.
