YearnÂing for the return of someÂthing you enjoyed in the past can be a mixed road that leads to either joy or disÂapÂpointÂment. PlaÂtonÂic Games set about reviÂtalÂizÂing the void left by the folks over at Rare by makÂing a spirÂiÂtuÂal sucÂcesÂsor to BanÂjo Kazooie, which was called Yooka-Laylee. The results were mixed, but I was hapÂpy to see the iniÂtiaÂtive takÂen to bring colÂlect-a-thon games back to the present. Now, PlayÂtonÂic Games have brought back the duo in a sequel titled Yooka-Laylee and the ImposÂsiÂble Lair, which takes those colÂlect-a-thon prinÂciÂples, shifts them to a 2D platÂformer, and borÂrowÂing some cues from DonÂkey Kong CounÂtry: TropÂiÂcal Freeze, makes a solÂid game that introÂduces some new conÂcepts and pushÂes the genre forward.
